Union health minister Dr Harsh Vardhan reached Muzaffarpur to take stock of the situation after Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) claimed 83 lives in the region. The union health minister was accompanied by his colleague Ashwini Choubey and Bihar state health minister Mangal Pandey. Dr Harsh Vardhan met the patients and asked about their well being at Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital. He assured all possible assistance to the state to fight the rising cases of the encephalitis. Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar already announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh.
