On the other hand, making homemade toothpaste or tooth powder is simple and easy. Even there are certain herbs and homemade concoctions that can restore your dental health. Herbal toothpaste or tooth powder can be made at home in no time. Here are few tips on making homemade or herbal toothpaste and tooth powder.
1. Baking soda and salt
This homemade toothpaste is for a single use. The ingredients are one teaspoon baking soda, ½ teaspoon of sea salt finely ground, one drop of peppermint, clove or citrus essential oil and a few drops of water. Mix the ingredients in a bowl and make a paste. Use the paste and brush as usual.
2. Toothpaste containing vegetable glycerin
Toothpaste contains glycerin which maintains the product texture. However, commonly glycerin from animals is used. You can make a pure vegan tooth paste using vegetable glycerin. The ingredients are 2 teaspoons of vegetable glycerin, 4 teaspoons of baking soda, ½ teaspoon of gaur gum, 8teaspoons of water and 5 teaspoons of essential oil like peppermint or clove. Place the ingredients in bowl and cook on low heat for five minutes. Add essential oil to taste when the mixture is turned into a thick paste.
2. Coconut based tooth paste
This homemade tooth paste contains coconut oil, hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. 6 teaspoons of baking soda, ¼ teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide, 2 tablespoons of coconut oil and 10 drops of peppermint or clove oil are mixed together until the mixture turns into a paste. The coconut-based toothpaste is ready for use.
3. A recipe containing virgin coconut oil
1/2 cup of virgin coconut oil, 2-3 tablespoons of baking soda or 1 tablespoon of pumice and 15to 20 drops of essential oil are mixed together. First, heat the coconut oil on low flame and then mix all the ingredients together. Add xylitol to taste and allow the mixture to cool before use.
4. Peppermint Sage tooth powder
The ingredients required for this tooth powder are 2 table spoons of bentonite clay, 2 tablespoons of baking soda, 1 tablespoon of finely ground dry sage leaf and 1 table spoon of xylitol. Combine the dry ingredients in a bowl and mix well with a non-metallic spoon. Drip essential oil and stir well. To brush with tooth powder, use a squirt bottle and squirt the powder onto a wet tooth brush.
5. Basic tooth powder recipe
The ingredients for this tooth powder are inexpensive and it takes just a few minutes to make it. Mix ½ cup of baking soda, ¼ cup of salt and ½ teaspoon of cinnamon. You could add some peppermint or a few drops of essential oil for flavor. Besides you can turn this into tooth paste by adding vegetable glycerin or liquid coconut oil.
6. Cinnamon and clove tooth paste
For making this tooth powder, mix 4 tablespoons of bentonite clay, 4 tablespoons of calcium powder, 1 tablespoon of baking soda, I tablespoon of sea salt, 1 tablespoon of cinnamon, 1 teaspoon of clove and 1 teaspoon of activated charcoal. Store the content in an airtight container. You are advised not to brush too hard when you use the mixture.
