May 25 : Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the strengthening of the Police Radio Department to make the state’s police system more modern, secure and technology-driven.
During a high-level review meeting held on Sunday, the Chief Minister said, “The confidentiality of police location, movement and communication activities is of top priority and there should be no possibility of any technical breach in it.”
He instructed that the police radio network be strengthened with modern technologies and uninterrupted communication facilities be ensured even in remote areas.
The Chief Minister directed the development of a central dashboard for live monitoring of CCTV footage from all police stations in the state. He said this would make law and order monitoring more effective and transparent.
The Chief Minister also directed further strengthening of the departmental structure for better supervision and monitoring. In this regard, the proposal to establish the headquarters of DIG Radio Eastern in Azamgarh and DIG Radio Western in Aligarh was discussed.
Discussion was also held on verification of character records of radio personnel through Superintendents of Police of concerned districts and ensuring technical testing before declaring wireless sets obsolete.
It was informed in the meeting that during the last financial year, under the procurement of communication equipment, 275 flat base masts, 5,322 batteries, 120 backpack sets and other supporting equipment including cables, chargers and antennas were purchased for police stations. Under the modernization scheme, 50 PA systems were also installed. Adoption of the reverse auction process resulted in savings of about Rs 1.23 crore in equipment purchases.
During the review of the work plan for the financial year 2026-27, it was informed that there is a plan to start digital wireless services in 12 districts at a cost of Rs 47 crore.
Apart from this, there is also a proposal to develop measuring equipment, 5G filters for portable communication, self-supported masts for remote police stations and hand-held wireless communication systems for Police Commissionerate Lucknow.
Emphasizing technology-based management of departmental human resources, the Chief Minister directed that data of all personnel be updated on the Manav Sampada portal and character records, leave and other service-related works be operated completely through digital means.
He also stressed providing training to employees related to latest technologies, computer training and improvement in the quality of communication messages.
