Apara Ekadashi
Apara Ekadashi, also known as Achala Ekadashi, holds great spiritual significance in Hinduism. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the preserver of the universe, it will be observed on 13 May 2026. It is observed on the Ekadashi tithi of the Krishna Paksha during the month of Jyeshtha as per the Hindu calendar. The infinite spiritual merit obtained through the observance of this Ekadashi is reflected in the name ‘Anchala’, which signifies limitless or unwavering spiritual reward, as described in the Apara Ekadashi katha.

Scriptures describe a moment when Lord Krishna explained the importance of the Ekadashi Vrat to King Yudhistira, highlighting Apara Ekadashi as extremely potent. As mentioned in the Ekadashi katha, observing this vrat frees devotees from past sins, ego, and pride and guides them toward the path of righteousness.
On this sacred day, devotees wake up before sunrise, perform a ritual bath, and start worshipping Maha Vishnu. They observe a day-long fast, either as a strict nirjala vrat or by consuming simple sattvic food. Reciting Vishnu sahasranama, chanting sacred mantras, and performing charitable deeds are essential parts of this Ekadashi vrat. This vrat is believed to bestow spiritual benefits equivalent to performing sacred charities and undertaking pilgrimages.
May the blessings of Lord Vishnu on the glorious day of Apara Ekadashi 2026 grant you strength, clarity, and prosperity.
