September 07 : Lucknow/Varanasi: Under the Yogi Government’s zero tolerance policy against drugs, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) has taken major action and recovered heroin worth approximately Rs 2.10 crore. The Varanasi unit of the ANTF team has arrested active smuggler Abhishek Sonkar, who was involved in the trafficking of illegal narcotic substances.

According to the DGP office, arrested accused is a resident of Jhoriya Jagdishpur Babatpur in the Phulpur police station area of Varanasi. The ANTF team also recovered 1 kg 20 grams of illegal narcotic substance heroin and other items from his possession. The accused was arrested from Godna Mor service road in Alinagar police station area of Chandauli district.

During police interrogation, the accused stated that he supplies illegal narcotic substances along with his partner. He was taking the recovered heroin towards Chandauli at the behest of his partner to supply it to a person. During this, the police caught him. The police are also investigating the case and other aspects related to the gang.
