December 20 : The year 2019 has been a mixed bag for Bollywood. While there have been some super-hits, some big banner films like Kalank and Student of the Year 2 crashed at the box office, shocking the industry. Here’s is a list of the top 10 flops of Bollywood in 2019.
Produced by Dharma Productions, this multi-starrer film was made at the cost of Rs 150 crore, whereas it could garner a collection of Rs 81 crore, making a loss of Rs 69 crore. The impressive star cast of Madhuri Dixit, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha couldn’t save the movie from the disaster. Kalank turned out to be the biggest flop in 2019.
Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi
Kangana Ranaut starrer film on Rani Laxmibai failed to earn back its cost. While it was made at the cost of Rs 125 crore, it could collect Rs 94.92 crore, leading to a loss of Rs 30.08 crore.
This Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra starrer film failed to impress the audiences. The film that was made in a budget of Rs 29 crore was a disaster garnering Rs 2 crore and making a loss of Rs 27 crore.
India's Most Wanted
The disaster of Arjun Kapoor starrer film was a disappointment. The film was made at Rs 37 crore, but garnered only Rs 15.42 crore, making a loss of Rs 21.58 crore.
Why Cheat India
Emraan Hashmi-starrer Why Cheat India was made at a budget of Rs 20 crore, but it could collect only Rs 8.66 crore, making a loss of 11.34 crore. Even the controversy created around the film could not generate any excitement among the audiences.
Despite a Salman Khan production, Notebook was a big disaster with a mere collection of Rs 3.72 crore against a budget of Rs 15 crore, making a loss of Rs 11.28 crore. Set in Kashmir, the film stars debutant Pranutan Bahl and Zaheer Iqbal.
Student of the Year 2
This Tiger Shroff, Tara Sutaria and Ananya Panday starrer film crashed at the box office, shocking the industry. This was Dharma Production’s second big loss in 2019. Produced at a cost of Rs 80 crore, the film could earn Rs 70.66 crore, making a loss of Rs 10.66 crore.
Sushant Singh Rajput and Bhumi Pednekar starrer film was a big disaster as it failed to bring the audience to the theatres. The film earned a mere Rs 5.5 crore at the box office.
Directed by Naman Nitin Mukesh and starring Neil Nitin Mukesh, the thriller was a disaster. It vanished from the theatres in no time, making a collection of Rs 1.16 crore.
