December 26 : Many of the highest grossing Hollywood movies this year are either sequels, instalment of a franchise or adaptations of a game or comic book. Before we close a great cinematic year that was a big bag of action thrillers, adventures, dramas, superhero films and animated films, we are happy that there was something for every age group of cinema lovers. Let’s rewind and see the top 10 grossing movies of Hollywood in 2019.
Released in April, this movie’s domestic gross was $858 million and international gross was $2.80 billion. Directed by Joe Russo and Anthony Russo, the film was made at a cost of $356 million.
The Lion King
Directed by Jon Favreau, the film was made at a budget of $250-260 million. While its domestic gross was $530 million, its international gross was $1.60 billion. The movie was released in July.
Toy Story 4
Helmed by Josh Cooley, the film was released in June. The film, which was made at $200 million, earned domestic revenue of $432 million and international revenue of $1.05 billion.
Released in March, Captain Marvel was produced at $152–175 million. Anna Boden, Ryan Fleck directed the film, which garnered a domestic revenue of $426 million and international revenue of $1.13 billion.
Spider-Man: Far From Home
Directed by Jon Watts, Spider-Man... was released in July. While it was produced at a budget of $160 million, it earned domestic revenue of $388 million and international revenue of $1.13 billion.
Aladdin was made at a budget of $183 million. Directed by Guy Ritchie, the film grossed $354 million on the domestic front and $1.05 billion at the international front. The film was release in May.
Directed by Jordan Peele, the film was released in March. It was produced at $20 million. While it earned domestic revenue of $175 million, on the international front, it earned revenue of $255 million.
John Wick: Chapter 3–Parabellum
Helmed by Chad Stahelski, John Wick...was made at a budget of $75 million, and was released in May. The film earned $171 million on the domestic front and $322 million on the international front.
Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw
Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw was directed by David Leitch, and was released in August. The film collected a domestic gross of $165 million, and an international gross of $722 million.
How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World
Directed by Dean DeBlois, the film was released in February. It was made at a budget of $129 million, and earned domestic revenue of $161 million and an international revenue of $520 million.
