Tata Harrier • Price, Variants & Specifications
Tata has recently launched the SUV, Harrier in a competitive price. It is available in four variants: XE, XM, XT and XZ. Harrier comes with 2 litre 4- cylinder turbo charged diesel engine which has 6 speed manual transmission. Tata offers the two wheel drive and no 4 x 4 model is offered yet. It is expected to launch an automatic version around mid-2019. Harrier comes with an array of features; like driving modes, 8.8” touchscreen infotainment and another 7” multi information display.
It is built on a Land Rover platform which gives it the strong credibility. The projector headlamps, front fog lamps with cornering function DRLs and indicators, sleek tail light and the floating roof give it an SUV look. The Harrier name imposed on the rear glass makes it novel; we get chrome elements on windows and on handles. Rain sensing wipers and auto headlamps give it premium look. It comes with 17” wheels which is slightly lower than the competitors.
Tata has given an exceptional look to the interior that it is hard to imagine that you are in a Tata car. Top class materials are chosen, lovely brushed chrome finishes and the plastics used make it elegant. Oak brown interior color scheme, leather seat upholstery, leather wrapped steering wheel and gear shift knob give it a classy look. It comes with a dual screen set up; 8.8” touch screen infotainment and 7” instrument cluster. The main screen comes with latest Tata’s touch interface, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The second screen has digital tachometer and fuel gauge. Driving modes, media and navigation are included in the instrument cluster which makes it modern. 9 speakers JBL audio system, auto climate control, cruise control, rear parking sensors and rear view camera make it a premium SUV.
The 1956 cc, In-Line Four cylinder turbo charged diesel engine delivers maximum power of 140PS at 3750 rpm and maximum torque of 350Nm at 2500 rpm. It comes with 6 speed transmission. Independent, Lower Wishbone, McPherson Strut with Coil Spring&Anti Roll Bar suspension in front and Semi-independent Twist Blade with Panhard Rod& Coil Spring suspension in rear ensure stable and comfortable ride. Three terrain (normal, rough and wet) response driving modes are given.
Two air bags, ABS and EBD are standard across all variants; top variants get 6 air bags. We get traction control, electronic stability control, hill hold assist, hill descent control, corner stability control, ISOFIX child seat mount, rollover mitigation, brake disc wiping and off-road ABS.
Comfort And Convenience
We get large glove box and two cup holders in front and big bottle holders on all doors. Rear seat also has armrest with cup holders. Small shelf is given on each of the rear door for holding the smartphones.

Fuel Tank Capacity
Tata Harrier contains 50 litres of fuel storage capacity.
It has 425 litres of boot space which can be extended up to 810 litres by folding the rear seat.

Hyundai Creta and Jeep Compass are its rivals in Indian market.
