Tata rules the road with its logistic vehicles and the name is popular in Indian military department with its reliability and durability. While rallying through, it focuses on compact vehicle segment. In 1998, Tata came with Indica and it ruled the road as the common man’s car. In 2008, Tata came with its cheapest car Nano. Now, we have the Tiago, Tata’s compact hatchback. Tiago NRG is the latest offering from Tata, in the entry level cross hatchback segment. It is introduced as the urban tough roader.
SPECIFICATION & VARIANTS
Tiago NRG comes in both Petrol and Diesel engines with three variants. The petrol engine is 1.2 litre with 84 bhp and 114 Nm of torque. The diesel engine is 1 litre with 69 bhp and 140 Nm of torque. Both engines have 5- speed transmission and don’t have an automatic version. We have automatic version in Tiago.

The suffix NRG means ‘energy’, the energy can be seen in both exterior and interior. It has the piano black honey comb grille as we have in Tiago. There is an added body cladding along the tailgate to complete the sporty look. There are faux skid plates for the rear bumper. The black roof rails make it sporty. Headlights get smoked effect, while at the back there is a large black insert on the tailgate which houses NRG moniker. The 14” alloy is new and the NRG is raised 15mm by tuning the suspension. NRG is slightly taller, longer and wider. The ground clearance has increased by 10mm but it has the same wheelbase length. It has more ground clearance than its competitors.
Tiago NRG has a boot capacity of 242 L and it remains the same as we have in Tiago.
The interior gets a new fresh look as the black cabin gets an orange treatment around AC vent, central console and gearbox console. The patterned stitching on the seats makes it nicer. 5” touchscreen music system makes its first appearance in NRG. Other new features in NRG are rear parking sensors, appealing headlamps, driver seatbelt reminders and cooled glove box.
Tiago NRG has all the basic safety features like two airbags, ABS, EBD, corner stability control, electrically adjustable wing mirror and rear wiper.
Tiago NRG has three color options, Malabar Silver, Canyon Orange and Fiji White.
In the market Tiago NRG competes with Maruti Celerio X, Mahindra KUV 100 and Ford Freestyle.
