Facts about Honey that you should know

These are a compact compilation of certain facts that was found from what research has revealed to us.

Never a spoiler!

Did you know that Honey is one natural substance that actually never gets spoilt? Thanks to its chemical makeup- the sweet liquid is extremely low in the moisture content and also has a touch of acidic content in it.

So, as long as you do not put anything wet in the Honey container- like a wet spoon or your hands- it is bound to last for years!

A valuable commodity

Believe it on not- honey was considered very precious and valuable during the medieval days. There was a time when the feudals made it a rule that their peasants need to pay a portion of their taxes in the form of honey, bee wax and so these guys were on a wild hunt of that divine sweetness!

Lots of it!

Yes, bees are very hardworking. They make a surplus of this honey to ensure that the inmates are well fed and nourished. The stock of honey will help them through the harsh winter months when there are no flowers to take nectar from.

The Medicinal Gold

This golden liquid is far more than just being sweet. It is said to anti- bacterial, and bring down the onslaught of a lot of infections . So, if you have a bruise, or wound- just dab a drop of honey and watch how it seals that wound in a short time.

The Fat Burner

Another miracle cure that this dollop of sweetness can give you is to shed that flab from your body! Not heard about it? Well, then try this. A natural sweetener on its own, and this liquid has the capacity to burn the fat in our body quickly. Just add a spoonful of honey to a glass of lukewarm water or even a cup of green tea- and this will help melt those stubborn fast.

Honey flavours can change

If you ever see the honey bottles in the supermarket, don’t think that these are the only ones in the market. There are so many varieties, colours and flavours of honey in this world. How does that happen? Well,  you see bees roam around for miles in search of nectar from various flowers. So, suppose these bees are collecting from a peculiar medicinal flower, then the taste of that plant will reflect in that nectar. Similarly, flowers give away different qualities of nectar in different seasons and that creates a subtle difference in colour and taste of the honey. If you have ever tasted the honey made from buckwheat flowers- then you experience a rather unique spicy taste and then the honey got from eucalyptus- is slightly touched with a menthol flavour. If the bees have sourced the nectar from the deep forests, it will be very dark in colour, sweet and have a medicinal taste.

The Bee Beard Era

No, if you are thinking this is some beard style- you are mistaken, dear friend. There was a time, when bee keepers used to sell their honey in the market. For better sales, they used innovative selling methods and among those came the bee beard trend.

For this – the bee vendor cages the queen bee and attaches it his beard. Then automatically bees gather around the queen bee. This would eventually shape into a beard and would get noticed by buyers.

The Ph Balancer

Since Honey is anti- bacterial, it can keep a steady balance of the Ph value of the skin. This will help remove a lot of scars, pimples and acne that erupts all over the face. Plus, if your skin has the right Ph balance this will give way to more youthful skin and also reduce the wrinkles that form as you age.
