October 22 : Dhantrayodashi 2019 is one of the most auspicious Hindu festivals and it marks the beginning of the 5 day grand festival of Diwali . Since the festival falls on Trayodashi tithi of the Krishna Paksha in the Kartik month as per the Hindu calendar . This is how the festival got its name Dhantrayodashi.
After Dhanteras, the festival gets complete with the celebrations of Chotti Diwali or Naraka Chaturdasi (October 27), Lakshmi Puja Diwali festival (October 27), Govardhan Puja (October 28) and Bhai Duj (October 29). The term ‘Dhanteras’ has a meaning- ‘Dhan’ means wealth and ‘Teras’ means the 13th day of the Kartik month. Devotees pray to Lakshmi Devi to usher wealth and good times into their lives and homes. Also Lord Kubera- The God of Wealth is worshipped on this day. It is important that Lakshmi Puja should be observed during the Pradosh Kaal period.
