A short fearless midfielder, Diego Armando Maradona was born on October 30, 1960, in Villa Fiorito, Argentina. At the age of 15, Maradona joined the senior soccer team and played four World Cups. Under his captaincy, Argentina won the 1986 World Cup and he was nominated for Golden Ball. He scored 34 goals in 91 international appearances for Argentina. In 1991, he got banned for 15-months after testing positive for cocaine in his blood. In 1997, the ace footballer announced his retirement on the eve of his birthday. In 2008, Maradona was appointed as coach of the Argentinean national team.
