Yamaha Motors was founded by Genichi Kawakami in 1953. The visionary Genichi explored producing many products, including sewing machine, auto parts, scooters, three-wheeled utility vehicles and motorcycles. Yamaha’s first motorcycle the YA-1 was introduced in 1955 and that marked the beginning of the Yamaha Motor Corporation. In the same year, it participated in two biggest events in Japan. In 1956 they introduced the second one, YC1, a single 175 cc two stroke engine. In 1957 they began the production of first 250 cc two stroke twin, YD1. In 1963, Yamaha demonstrated its focus on cutting edge, technological innovations by developing the Auto lube System. Yamaha continued to grow with new products like snowmobiles, race kart engines, generators, scooters, ATV’s, personal watercraft and more.
Yamaha officially entered in to India in 1985. It continued its joint-venture with Escorts till 2001, after which it became a 100 percent subsidiary of Yamaha Japan. In India, Yamaha offers wide range of two-wheelers spread across different segments. Right from 100 cc commute motorcycle to litre class superbikes, Yamaha offer everything. Yamaha has wide range of successful scooters in Indian market. The Fascino has gained wide admiration in its scooters. For the enthusiast youths Yamaha offers, Fazer, FZ-S, YZF-R15 and YZF-R3. The superbike range consists of YZF R1, YZF R1-M, Vmax and the MT-09.
