What does the Summer Solstice 2024 mean?

It hails from a Latin word solstitium, in which sol means the sun and stitium means it has stopped. So, it indirectly goes to mean that the sun has stopped moving. It is assumed that the sun stops moving once it reaches the northern or the southernmost point of the globe.

This is a position of the Earth when it tils towards the Sun at its maximum, thereby the Earth getting the most daylight - for the maximum number of hours in a year.

Whereas in the Southern Hemisphere, this happens to be the shortest day of the year.

The sun moves right above the Tropic of Cancer and runs across Saudi Arabia, Mexico, India, Egypt and Southern China.

They believe it will give a good harvest and also drive away evil powers. 

You cannot see the full moon on the summer solstice and in case it happens, the moon will look reddish in colour. That moon is named as Strawberry Moon.
